Towards a Malaria-Free Busoga
Malaria remains a major challenge for children and families in Busoga. Through a partnership with Busoga Health Forum, OVAAT is bringing the Busoga Malaria Eradication Programme to Naigobya Village, Luuka District.
The initiative focuses on four pillars: community mobilisation, mosquito control, testing and treatment, and routine surveillance.

Community-Centric Foundations
Every story of change starts somewhere. For OVAAT, it begins in Naigobya Village, Luuka District.
Founded by the community in 2016, OVAAT brings residents together to drive sustainable development, strengthen livelihoods and protect the environment.
At its heart is child development, embodied in the community-led Early Childhood Development Centre established with support from Rotary Club of Kyandondo.

How we work
Holistic Development Approach
The initiative was designed to integrate various aspects of community life, including education, health, and livelihoods, to ensure comprehensive progress.
Early Childhood Development & Learning Hubs
They build and support community-owned learning centers to provide early education, nutritious meals, and safe spaces for young children.
Health & Primary School Improvement
They strengthen existing primary schools and healthcare access by upgrading infrastructure, delivering learning materials, and promoting localized health and nutrition tracking.
Livelihoods & Youth Empowerment
They run skills-training and income-generating programs for families, alongside mentorship and menstrual hygiene support to keep youth in school.

One Village at a Time Uganda (OVAAT) is building a child-centred development model in one village, beginning with the Heritage Child Development Centre. Our work brings together education, health, nutrition, protection, livelihoods, community leadership and global partnership to help children and families survive, learn, thrive and connect.
We believe one village can become a place of measurable change, documented learning and shared possibility—a village that welcomes the world to contribute expertise, time, mentorship, networks, resources and partnerships, not only money.
