One Village. Every Child. A Better Future.
The OVAAT Model brings together village elites to actively support development in their communities. Working hand-in-hand with local residents, they drive positive change through a community-led, participatory approach that empowers everyone to shape the future of their village.
Early Childhood Development & Learning Hubs
The early years of a child’s life lay the foundation for physical, emotional, social and cognitive development. When children receive nurturing care, protection, stimulation and opportunities to learn, they are more likely to build the skills, confidence and resilience they need for the future.

The initiative focuses on four pillars: community mobilisation, mosquito control, testing and treatment, and routine surveillance.
Community-Centric Foundations
Every story of change starts somewhere. For OVAAT, it begins in Naigobya Village, Luuka District.
Founded by the community in 2016, OVAAT brings residents together to drive sustainable development, strengthen livelihoods and protect the environment.
At its heart is child development, embodied in the community-led Early Childhood Development Centre established with support from Rotary Club of Kyandondo.
One village. Community-led change. A brighter future for every child.
How we work
Holistic Development Approach
The initiative was designed to integrate various aspects of community life, including education, health, and livelihoods, to ensure comprehensive progress.
The World for One Village
It takes a village to nurture a child.
One Village at a Time Uganda (OVAAT) is building a child-centred development model in one village, beginning with the Heritage Child Development Centre. Our work brings together education, health, nutrition, protection, livelihoods, community leadership and global partnership to help children and families survive, learn, thrive and connect.
We believe one village can become a place of measurable change, documented learning and shared possibility—a village that welcomes the world to contribute expertise, time, mentorship, networks, resources and partnerships, not only money.
Why We Care
Support in early childhood creates a ripple effect. When children are nurtured early, families are stronger, communities are more resilient, and the foundation for future generations is set. This early support shapes lifelong learning, health, and the ability of communities to lead their own development.
The World for One Village
It takes a world to nurture a child.
Naigobya Village is where change begins. Through OVAAT, people and organisations can contribute their skills, time, knowledge and resources to help children thrive.
Whether you are a student, professional, researcher, mentor or potential partner, there is a place for you to contribute.
