About the School
St. Jude Naigobya Primary School, established in 1954 by the Catholic Church, has grown from a single building, originally named Naigobya Primary School. The school now has seven classrooms and a library, reflecting its commitment to expanding its physical facilities to accommodate a growing number of learners.
Over the years, the school has introduced a variety of extracurricular activities to enrich the learner’s educational experience. These include music, dance, and drama, as well as sports such as football, netball, volleyball, and athletics. These activities are designed to foster a well-rounded education, promoting both physical and creative development.
The leadership and administration of St. Jude Naigobya Primary School have greatly contributed to its success. The current Chairperson of the School Management Committee is Rev. Fr. Denis Mawerere, while the PTA is chaired by Mr. Dhikusooka W. Balaby. The Cost Centre Head Teacher, Mr. Kirunda Moses Kalulu, oversees the daily operations of the school, ensuring that it maintains its high standards of education and learners’ welfare.

Notable among the staff members is Mr. Olwo Michael, who was recognized for producing excellent academic results during his tenure. Another significant figure is Mr. Mawanda Nekemeya, who demonstrated exceptional dedication and discipline in financial management.
The school has achieved several milestones, including the installation of a shallow piped water system provided by the Rotary Club of Jinja, spearheaded by Dr. Ssegonga Geoffrey. Additionally, the Luuka District Local Government is renovating two classroom blocks, and plans are underway to establish an Early Childhood Development (ECD) learning center with support from Engineer Luke Kyobe, the area Member of Parliament for Luuka North, and Engineer George, the Isabalangira.
St. Jude Naigobya Primary School is guided by a vision and mission.
The vision is “to become one of the leading schools in Luuka District”, while the mission is “to produce God-fearing and self-reliant citizens”. This mission is supported by a prefect body for 2024.

The school also places a strong emphasis on student involvement through various clubs and teams. The debating club is led by Naiwumbwe Harriet with assistant Muledhu Emma.
In the other leadership affairs, there is the sanitary coordinators Matege Shafic and Nangobi Gift. The games and sports teams, led by Kabali Jude and Namuwanga Eliza, involve pupils in roles such as timekeepers, office assistants, compound managers, library managers, and more, promoting a sense of responsibility and teamwork among the pupils.
In 2024, the school has an enrolment of 970 pupils, reflecting its popularity and the trust it has earned from the community. Despite the challenges, including the lack of a laboratory, and enough classrooms, St. Jude Naigobya Primary School is striving for excellence in all aspects of education and learners’ development.
